Well this seems to be working….
New drawing I finished in September… “Rain Dance”
To those upset about recent rain: It wasn’t me, I didn’t do it.
To those who are happy: You’re welcome 😏🤣
Pencil on brown paper, about 10 inches square. With a little white pen on the raindrops.

“Rain Dance”
End of August / beginning of September, 2026.
It’s late August already… I should have completed 12 drawings for this calendar by a month ago, but I began months late, and artistic output was constantly pushed off track by STUFF. Back in May, I really thought this calendar wasn’t going to happen. But as the year picks up speed out of summer, enters the final straight into Autumn and then Winter, I find I am missing only one last drawing.
And I am missing something else: Rain. Bad weather. Gloomy skies. Drizzle. We have had none of it for months and – you may disagree – but the unrelenting lovely weather is exhausting and it’s getting on my nerves! Also, the plants could do with a drink. Several drinks.
And so I decide to create a little Rain Dance.
This is not a drawing about a swimming event: it is a conjuration.
We’ve all done it, we’ve all got dressed in a downpour, we all have our methods. You may think this trio are particularly bad at it, especially the right hand lady, standing on her Dryrobe instead of changing under it …but my friends will tell you that’s pretty much what I do. Unless it’s really heavy rain and I may attempt to hold the Dryrobe over me with my forehead and nose. The zip hasn’t functioned properly for years: life’s too short to zip a Dryrobe. And as for the other two, I’ve seen much more flashed in the names of haste and humour.
My drawing does the trick of course: no sooner finished than the first rain arrives.
So I apologize in advance if we are up to our necks in water by Christmas.
I live in Somerset*, so it’s more than likely…
