Cool March Sea

Cool March Sea

My first visit to Lyme Regis this year.

I drove down in the morning through a light haze: just enough of a mist to obscure horizontal distance, but not overhead sunlight. Strong enough sun to celebrate a spring day, but not yet enough to bring the hordes to the beach. Warm enough water to take the edge off winter, but not yet enough to luxuriate and idle.

The little wavelets were mild enough to present no problem at all entering the sea, but still slapped enthusiastically on warm skin as Rachael and Margaret attempted, once more, that eternal impossibility: getting in without actually getting wet.
